Default Levulan

I had a levulan treatment with a light Photodynamic Therapy, and I have had minumial redness and no side effects. Is this normal? I am trying to elminate hormane (brown spots) and prevent skin cancer, since it runs in both sides of my family.

I had the levulan treatment with the blue light therapy and it really worked on my face. The doctor left the levulan on for 8 hours and did a microdermabrasion treatment before appling it. My face looked horrible for the first 5 days and I didn't want to go out of the house but it was worth it. The pain from the levulan and blue light was really bad so I could only last 12 minutes. I even took a pain pill but it didn't really work. The doctor said I could do 16 minutes if I could handle it but it was too painful. He had me hold a vaccum like device that distributed cold air while I was under the blue light and I moved it back and forth. I would recommend pain medication and have someone drive you if you put the levulan on for 8 hours.
My face looks great and all of the problems areas are gone.

I had another treatment 2 weeks ago, but this time the doctor left the levulan on for 8 hours and did a dermabrasion before applying the levulan. He also used the blue light treatment. My melasma is almost completly gone and I had it pretty bad too.

My face did have small blisters for 3 days and it took a good 5 days before I wanted to leave the house due to peeling and redness. I would recommend the blue light with levulan instead of the photo facial and levulan. Also, the first time I used levulan, the other doctor only left the levulan only on for 1 hour which did nothing for me.

My second doctor recommend neuosporin, white vinger, bottle water in a spray bottle, and a fan. I would have all of these items ready after treatment this type of treatment. I used a cold humidifer and a fan because the pain was really bad for the first 2 days. I was on pain medication but it still hurt. However, the pain was worth it because I have tried many things to fix my melasma and this appears to have worked. It has only been 2 weeks so I am waiting to see what I will look like in a couple of months. Since melasma is usually hormanal, I realize the brown spots could come back. Right now, I can't believe how different I look because the spots are either gone or really faded finally.
