Default welchol for diarrhea, et al

I had bad diarrhea for years, can only assume ibs as nothing else showed a reason. I have high cholesterol and have taken 2 - 3 welchols per day - it reduced by ldl to normal (I am shorter than most people, 5 ft. ), and from the first pill it fixed the diarrhea problem. I can actually go places in the morning. I've been taking it about 6 months. No side-effects - although i may have gained a couple of lbs. since food goes through at a normal pace.

Since 1/3 - 1/2 dose suggested dose worked for me in lowering my LDL, perhaps taking less may work for others also - reducing side effects. Although I would get a blood test after 2 or 3 months of taking less. I've also started taking Lovaza (used to be omacor) for high trigycerides and that works, too -- it is a pharmaceutical grade omega-3, and may well help with the cholesterol, although they don't advertise that.

Default No Subject

I was diagnosed with IBS 2 months ago and the doctor put me on Welchol. Only during the first month did I have severe constapation, however, after that I have had no other side effects. I can now eat anything, without worrying if it is going to make me have diareha. I reccommend it to anyone with IBS.

Default J Pouch Surgery

I am 50 years old and had to have my entire colon removed. I had a j pouch surgery that connects my small intestines to my rectum, this was 3 1/2 years ago. I suffer from chronic diarrhea. My new colon doctor put me on Welchol to help control the diarrhea. 3 tablets twice a day. I'm hoping this will help. Has anyone else used this drug for this poblem and have you had any side effects?

Thank you so much for your advice. It has been so helpful to me in trusting Wechol for my husband.
